Self Portrait by Moonlight at Midnight

March 4, 2010

The moon was directly overhead as we sailed southward and I decided to take advantage of it for some shooting on deck. I had to concentrate on standing still for the full thirty seconds that the exposure required as the ship was moving side to side a bit in the wind and whitecaps. The effect of motion on the clouds during the long exposure gave the image a look that I like a lot.

Jim, this is one of my favorites; an interesting composition; the deck lines leading the eye directly to the bridge; and, that Ninja fellow!

Ha, that made me laugh! I do look somewhat sinister in this one don’t I?
