Approaching the Sunshine Skyway Bridge

March 5, 2010

Although the southern Gulf of Mexico had been warm enough during the trip, Mother Nature still had her icy grip on Tampa Bay as we returned. It was exceptionally windy and cold on the highest deck of the ship as it approached the illuminated bridge. I didn’t let it deter me from being creative with the camera though. I really had to make an effort to stabilize the camera in the buffeting winds as the ship maneuvered out of the channel’s last turn before sailing beneath the bridge and into the bay. For those readers who may not be aware, this is the same bridge that appears in my photo on the masthead of this journal.

This is an awesome photo, absolutely exceptional! The blurred effect of the lights on the Skyway and the reflection in the bay is amazing!!!! It was worth being cold.
