Lightscape

April 23, 2010

A twilight view of 7th Avenue in front of the studio taken with the 50mm f/1.7, my favorite lens. I specifically pick this lens when I want those beautiful, spherical, out of focus highlights to be part of the composition. This image demonstrates a case of me deliberately breaking the rules. Normally the point of interest in a composition is in sharpest focus and the less important elements would be in the out of focus areas. Exactly the opposite here.

Interesting composition. Some rules are made to be broken, Jim. I like it.

I like this one, too. It reminds me of Christmas for whatever reason. Beautiful colors, too.
