Centipede and Woodbine

June 2, 2010

The week of  little critters continues here on my journal. Some of you may be glad that it’s a short week. This centipede was on a downed tree in the woods. The root ball of the tree had been colonized by bumblebees and on the other end I found this little centipede next to some woodbine that was spreading across the tree trunk. I liked the way the somewhat creepy look of the vine’s roots complemented the somewhat creepy look of the centipede. I used strong directional side lighting to bring out the texture of the damp log and to better define the segmented body of the centipede.
