Natural Translucence

August 11, 2010

The other evening when I photographed the tiny little snails on my tangerine tree the sun dropped beneath the clouds for a few moments before slipping below the horizon. During that short bit time a little sliver of light shone through the leaves and hit this snail at just the right angle, making it’s shell glow with a beautiful pearly light. I had time to compose just this one shot and then the sliver of light moved away as the angle of the setting sun changed.
