Alien Landscape Illuminated

The sun finally cleared the low hills in the east and it’s warm light glanced sideways across the most bizarre landscape I have ever stepped foot in. The strong side-lighting sculpted the strange forms with contrasting shadows that were perfect for photography. This was the reason we had slept in our car in a remote canyon, driven countless miles on some pretty sketchy roads, and hiked through the desert in the chilly hours before dawn. It was absolutely worth all of it. Here is a mini slide show with a few more images from our first stop in the Bisiti Badlands:
